Here’s an event to tickle your interest in science… and your taste buds! This unique conference and tasting event is all about potatoes. How did their cultivation influence peasant communities? From modern cultivars to South America’s native varieties, what are the challenges to growing these tubers, which now exist in several thousand varieties? What are the myths, and, most importantly, the facts about the potato’s nutritional properties and therapeutic value? And how to elevate these spuds to gourmet cuisine, beyond mashed potatoes and fries?
This conference for the senses will feature tastings and readings of literary excerpts referring to the potato. The event is organized in collaboration with the Producteurs de pommes de terre du Québec (PPTQ).
