Spotlight on Wallonia-Brussels
For its 13th edition, MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE invites you to taste artistic and gastronomic delights from our featured twin
regions, Wallonia and Brussels.
Both Belgian regions offer a gourmet palate and savoir-faire. Brussels, a city-region open to the world, is a crossroads
of gastronomic influences as diverse as they are rewarding; Wallonia, resplendent with rivers, forests full of game and vast
orchards, presents a culinary palette rich in quality regional products.
The two regions will unveil the many facets of their local gastronomy via a
gallery of chefs, from the most renowned culinary ambassadors, including our
honorary president Yves Mattagne,
to the youngest and most promising rising talents.
And if that weren’t enough, the delegation is also bringing in two amazing artisan chocolatiers. François Deremiens, of
Deremiens Artisan Chocolatier fame, will take part in the
Convivial Wallonie-Bruxelles event, while Laurent Gerbaud, from Laurent Gerbaud Artisan Chocolatier,
will be host at Portus Calle. Both masters will be attending the
The raw materials of chocolate conference.
With Wallonia and Brussels in the spotlight,
we'll also be featuring all the fabulous musical diversity of these regions. Belgium's most famous musician
and our honorary copresident, harmonica master
Toots Thielemans, will kick off the festivities with his opening concert. Belgium also brings us its edgiest
sounds, with the electro-chic of the incomparable
Stromae, the atmospheric rock
of My Little Cheap Dictaphone,
the energizing rock of Été 67, and the off-colour blues of the
Experimental Tropic Blues Band.
Belgium will also have a strong presence on MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE’s free outdoor site. Come and enjoy a sweet treat at Maison du chocolat
and make sure to take in the Images of Wallonia-Brussels photo exhibition.
