2014 PROGRAM REVIEW
In addition to completely reconceived lighting effects, we also had the notion to
move the RBC Stage to the northern end of the Place des Festivals,
and the Air France Ferris Wheel in front of the MAC. But the great
star of this edition was undoubtedly the Cour RBC. The stylized
recreation of our city’s inimitable backyards in the midst of an assemblage of containers
was a brilliant idea.
New installations Nucléus (presented by the Casino de Montréal)
and Faces of Montreal (presented by Bell) charmed
festival fans. The RBC Stage drew some of the largest crowds in
the history of MEL, from the opening concert by a fiery Louis-Jean Cormier
to the closing blowout by undeniable beatmaster Poirier, and hosted
the Bell DJ/VJ series.
Finally 185 bravos, a super free outdoor event filled
with lighting, music, fireworks and video projections, paid tribute to the 15th
anniversary of MEL, the 40th anniversary of DUCEPPE, the 50th anniversary of Place
des Arts and the 80th anniversary of the OSM.
