Shedding light on the new site!
No doubt, festival-goers were in for a surprise this year, as MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE celebrated its return to
the downtown core where it was born in February 2000—in the now-completed heart of the Quartier des spectacles
around Place des Arts. With its complete makeover, the brand-new free outdoor MEL site—now on the
Place des Festivals and
its environs— showcased the brightest MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE ever.
Among the multitude of attractions, one could enjoy the mind-blowing new-generation
interactive
slide projections and lighting displays redesigning the facades of the surrounding architecture,
spectacular video mapping displays on the Maison du Festival Rio Tinto Alcan
(3 displays nightly), illuminated musical spectacles and
characters in illuminated costumes created especially for the MEL…
And, in a major new addition this year, fine dining joined the outdoor celebration, with the
Escales Gourmandes—
gourmet stopovers located all over the site offering various culinary salutes to Wallonia-Brussels.
MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE proved more deliriously dynamic and delicious than ever!
